There’s a lot to like about the Kia EV6. It may not be the fastest electric car around, nor does it have the longest battery, but it has pretty much everything you could hope for, including 310 miles of EPA-estimated range.
During our time with the car, we were pleased to see that Kia has decked out the EV6 with a stylish exterior and smart interior that is full of high-end and premium features. Not to mention 350kW charging, an augmented reality display, smart parking, 2-car cargo capacity, and 17.6 cubic feet of trunk space. This is without the seats folded down too.
Combine all that with a decent starting price of $40,900 and you have the recipe for a nearly perfect electric car. In fact the only fault we can find is that the rear window is small and there is no rear wiper.

While not the most attractive EV on the market, the Nissan Leaf is the perfect vehicle for those new to EVs or those who don’t want to spend a lot of money. The 2022 model is even more interesting in that respect, as its starting price is just $27,800, and that’s before federal and state incentives are factored in. In fact, the Nissan Leaf is one of only nine electric vehicles still eligible for the federal tax credit, meaning it can cost as little as $20,300.
The Leaf also offers a spacious interior with many advanced options, including ProPilot driver assistance software and “ePedal” that offers one-pedal driving for those who want it. It also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
There are downsides, particularly the fact that the cheaper 40 kWh battery models offer just 149 miles of EPA range. Likewise, the Leaf features a CHAdeMO fast charger, rather than the CCS preferred by every automaker except Tesla. But if you’re looking for an EV that doesn’t have to be too big and you’re on a budget, this is one to consider.

Tesla’s popularity contest has long been led by the Model 3, due to its solid performance and low price. But Model Y swooped in and stole the thunder. It may be a bit more expensive than the Model 3, but it makes up for it in terms of functionality and interior space.
The Tesla Model Y has all the parts needed to make a Tesla, including up to 330 miles of range, a 3.5 second 0-60 time, autopilot, 250kW Tesla Supercharger network access, and more. of course, all the usual Tesla precautions apply, such as extreme warmth and the fact that everything is centralized in one touchscreen. Teslas are famous, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned from driving them, it’s that Elon Musk’s cars have an acquired taste. (In fact, after more than 1,000 miles of test driving, our automotive editor is still having problems with Tesla’s electric cars.)
If you want all the benefits of a Tesla cabin, without paying the price of a Model X, then the Model Y might be the EV for you.

It seems every automaker in the world is betting on Tesla, but its Model 3 remains one of the best electric cars out there, with a great range, features and price that prove Teslas aren’t only for the 1 percent.
In fact, Tesla’s Model 3 is still one of the best electric cars on the market. The Model 3 can go up to 262 miles on a single charge (with a standard battery), and while this car is squatter and more piped than Tesla’s Model S, it costs about half as much.
Although critics argue that Tesla continues to overstate the technical capabilities of its Driver Assist Autopilot feature, we think it’s still worth it, to some extent. Software updates provide continuous improvement, but if you want more range and better AWD handling, Model 3 pricing starts at $41,990.
