Take the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Cadrifoglio. It starts at $80,000, while the 280-horsepower Stelvio has an MSRP of $42,000. The 295-horsepower Jeep Grand Cherokee retails for $30,695. Trackhawk? $86,000 and up.
“As consumers have shown they are willing to pay higher prices, manufacturers have looked for ways to increase margins,” says Brandon Mason, director of PwC’s automotive practice.

“High-performance cars make driving more fun,” he noted. “Things are safer, more luxurious and more fun to drive. They make more sense than a sports car. With the styling cues of a McLaren supercar, the rear diffuser adds to the sportiness of the company’s vision of the car.
McLaren’s desire to present cars has changed over the years.
